HERRERA-GOMEZ, Antonio. The model of care by midwives during pregnancy and low-risk delivery, compared to other models of care. Ene. [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.1, 1341. Epub Sep 19, 2022. ISSN 1988-348X.
Introduction:
The models of care for childbirth and low-risk pregnancy are various, but there is currently an international discussion emphasizing the positive aspects of models of care for midwives. The objective of this article was to review the existing scientific evidence on these models of care, and their results.
Methodology:
Bibliographic review.
Results and discussion:
After reading, analysis and evaluation of all the articles, 20 documents were selected for their high methodological quality and little possibility of bias in their performance. Randomized and controlled clinical trials, systematic reviews, meta-analyzes, and other types of observational studies were included; 3 clinical and scientific relevant clinical practice guidelines prepared by experts (2 Spanish-speaking and 1 English) were also analyzed. Advantageous results were found in the midwifery care models with respect to the other medical care models.
Conclusion:
the model of care by midwives in low-risk pregnancy and delivery has several and better benefits compared to other models of medical care.
