Recent years have witnessed a noticeable ageing of the Cuban population which has led to a series of physiological changes that inhibit movement. The main causes of immobility in old adults are lack of strength or weakness, rigidness, pain, balance disorders and psychological problems. The appearance of pressure ulcers for various reasons is often an accompanying element, and this causes health problems and affects the quality of the patient's, and changes the family dynamics since human and economic resources are required. To avoid or prevent the occurance of these ulcers it is necessary to consider profilactic measures which, once present, play a fundamental role in Nursing care. Aim: To identify the disk of pressure ulcers in the over-60 population at Surgery 33 of the Cristóbal Labra Polyclinic in La Lisa. Methodology: The Norton Index was used for the over-60 population at Surgery 33 of the Cristóbal Labra Polyclinic in La Lisa in order to identify the risks of suffering from pressure ucers. Results: These were processed in tables and graphs. Main findings: Highest risk was for female patients over 80 with urine incontinence, mental disorders, bad nutrition and bad profilactic care. Conclusions: Nursing care is a fundamental element in the quality of life of patients aith pressure ulcer risk and also in the preparation and guidance of the carers within the family.
