TEJADA MORON, Inmaculada. Reconciled with herself: when the nurse suffers anorexia. Index Enferm [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.3, pp.176-179. ISSN 1699-5988. https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S1132-12962013000200013.
A biographic account of Sonia, a nurse who suffered from anorexia and bulimia nervosa, while she was studying a degree in nursery. The aim of this article is to explore how a nurse who has a wide knowledge on the subject, lived the anorexia. Thanks to her own experience, she is able to help other patients now. To build up the biography, I carried out a semi-structured interview with open questions focused on key issues. The informant tells her experience by describing aspects such as her own perception of her inner struggle, describing the trigger and the development of the disease and the strategies she used to face the illness and to recover her health. She also makes reference to the main motivation that led her to become aware of the problem and to want to take control of her life again. Such experience can be useful for our society in general and specially for those youngsters who may feel reflected on it.
