RODRIGUEZ DIAZ, María Teresa; CRUZ-QUINTANA, Francisco y PEREZ-MARFIL, María Nieves. Functional dependence and welfare of institutionalized elderly. Index Enferm [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.1-2, pp.36-40. ISSN 1699-5988. https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S1132-12962014000100008.
The aim of this study is to analyze emotional wellbeing of elderly people in relation to level functional dependency. As welfare indicators are assessed levels of depression (Yesavage) and anxiety (STAI-R), life satisfaction (CSV) and death anxiety (DAS). We performed a transversal descriptive study in a group of people over 60 years (sample=103). Data were collected using standardized questionnaires. For data analysis were used bivariate correlations between key measures, univariate analysis (ANOVA) and Bonferroni test to check for significant differences between dependency groups (p<.05). Results indicate that there are significant differences between groups for age, cognitive impairment, depression and death anxiety. To conclude we found a direct relationship between level of functional dependency and level of distress.
