Resumen
CASAL-MOROS, Norma y ALEMANY-ANCHEL, Mª José. Symbolic violence in childbirth attention, an approach from Boudieu's perspective. Index Enferm [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.1-2, pp.61-64. ISSN 1699-5988. https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S1132-12962014000100013.
At present, situations as natural as the pregnancy and the childbirth are tackled as if they were pathology. This conception - typical of the biomedical model - entails that many women live these experiences from the perspective of "patients", standing bail for the professionals in the medicine without questioning the decisions taken by them. It is about a hierarchical model in which the power and the authority fall on the doctors, leaving in the background the capacity of decision of the expectant mother. Model in which such medical actions could be considered to be own of a type of violence that does no use physical force and that we find it hard to recognize as such and which was so-called "symbolic violence" by Pierre Bourdieu.
