Objective:
To design and validate an instrument that measures the level of vocation of service to human care of Mexican nursing students.
Methodology:
Cross-sectional design of instrument validation. Four stages: (1) Design and validation of the instrument by technique of judges, (2) Pilot test, (3) Final version and test / re-test comparison, (4) Factor analysis. The sample was 355 nursing students.
Results:
An instrument was designed with 23 items distributed in three dimensions, with a Likert response. According to the validation by judges, the instrument was considered favorable. All reagents were understood, fill time ranged from 12 to 23 minutes. A reliability of .818 was obtained, the ICC was significant (p = .001). The instrument explains 64.1 % of the vocation.
Conclusion:
the instrument is valid and reliable to measure the level of vocation in undergraduate nursing students.
