ROMARIS, I.U.; REFOYO, I. y LORENZO, J.. Comparison of the game rhythm in Spanish Female League and ACB League. CPD [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.2, pp.161-168. ISSN 1989-5879.
this research aims to compare the game rhythm between male and female basketball by analyzing the number of ball possessions performed per game, their duration and the impact of using different types of attack. Possessions of 14 ACB League games and 12 Spanish Female League (FL) games of the 2009-10 season, were studied applying observational methodology. The statistical analysis clearly show that the game rhythm is a valid factor to distinguish male and female basketball, since statistically significant differences between the two leagues in all the analyzed variables were found. The results show that the game rhythm in FL is faster than in ACB League due to the higher average number of ball possessions per game (ACB 172 - FL 180.58); and the lower average duration of ball possessions (ACB 12.73 sec. - LF 11.82 sec.). Furthermore, the game in the FL is faster than in ACB League due to the greater use of fast-breaks (ACB 10% - FL 12.8% of total ball possessions) and secondary breaks (ACB 3.9% - FL 5.2%); and a shorter duration of set offenses (ACB 14.11 sec. - FL 13.2 sec.).
