Web based distance learning play a key role nowadays. The use of new resources in education changes the way people learn and demands a higher effort, involvement and information managing abilities on the students side (Hokanson y Hooper, 2000). Therefore, tutors role is becoming a key element guiding and facilitating the students learning. Bearing this in mind, the aim of this paper is to describe the impact of tutors on a program of self development of on-line competences among 30 professionals. Initial results show that activities planned by a tutor play a key role in program success -on account of the functions of follow-up/monitoring, information and guidance carried on the student.
