CASSIMIRO, Márcia de Cássia. Ethical dilemmas and conflict of interest in the COVID-19 syndemic in Brazil. Rev. Bioética y Derecho [online]. 2022, n.55, pp.105-122. Epub 20-Ene-2023. ISSN 1886-5887. https://dx.doi.org/10.1344/rbd2022.55.39475.
Ethical dilemmas and conflict of interest are discussed in this paper, with a focus on the SARS-CoV-2 syndemic. In total numbers, Brazil is the second country with the most deaths recorded by COVID-19. With the exception of the Spanish flu in 1918, Brazil has never experienced such drama. Corruption, denialism, fake news, strangulation of social policies, setbacks of human rights, dismantling and lack of assistance in the areas of health and education, caused by the mismanagement of the pandemic by the Brazilian government, intensified the resurgence of various diseases, resulting in thousands of bereaved families and orphans. These are some of the topics discussed in the light of science, in order to contribute to mitigating the impact caused by the increase in vulnerability and inequality in the population.
