Resumen

RIVERA-SECCHI, K.; ACOSTA, G.; VELEZ, M.  y  TRELLES, M.A.. Laser remodelling of hypertrophic and keloid scars: prospective study in 30 patients. Cir. plást. iberolatinoam. [online]. 2013, vol.39, n.3, pp.307-317. ISSN 1989-2055.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S0376-78922013000300015.

The use of lasers in the treatment of hypertrophic scars and keloids has shown acceptable outcomes. The aim of this study is to analyze and determine the efficacy and safety of a combination of two lasers in the management of hypertrophic and keloid scars of any etiology. This is a prospective and descriptive study conducted between January 2011 and June 2013 in which 40 scars on 30 patients phototype III to VI were treated. The Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) and the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) were used to evaluate the results. In the first phase of treatment a non-ablative Nd: YAG 1064 nm laser for a total of 6 sessions was used. Following, 4 to 7 sessions of CO2 fractional laser, at 20W were given. Patients were evaluated 6 months after last treatment. After analyzing the results, there was an improvement in all variables. The parameters that showed better outcome were the vascularization and skin pliability. Pruritus was the symptom with best remission. Functional limitation generated by scars located on anatomical areas with mobility was recovered in 80 % in the best case. Laser scar remodelling can be considered an alternative for hypertrophic scars and keloids of any etiology using appropriate parameters in relation to each case.
