Objectives: health organizations are not immune to human migration that have drawn a new multicultural reality and must manage diversity in the "day to day". Health systems considered beneficial information and patient involvement in the care process, which is sometimes hampered by the language barrier in some of our patients. There are several factors that influence postoperative pain. These factors highlight the preoperative preparation of the patient, including the level of information and level of anxiety. To help improve this aspect is necessary to make information in different languages. The aim of this work was to improve communication between professionals and users. To do this, we decided to prepare an information leaflet Multicultural Treatment of acute postoperative pain, which includes the languages most prevalent in our area. Material and methods: we distinguish different phases in the development, design and translation of multicultural information leaflet: establishment of a Commission for the design and development of the Spanish triptych, triptych translation into the languages of the users groups speaking more prevalent in our hospital, verification of translations by health such native languages, review and evaluation by the Commission on Quality of Hospital Universitario Puerto Real (HUPR) Triptych approval by the Commission of Quality, triptych print and distribution Preanesthesia Consultation for distribution to patients. Results: develops and designs an information leaflet - Education that is translated into the native languages of the main groups of patients treated (Spanish, English, French, German and Arabic), facilitating awareness of our Oneness to most people attend the pre-anesthesia consultation of our Hospital. The information in the leaflet includes among other things: presentation of the UDA and its components, the UDA objectives, work methodology, daily attendance procedures, pain assessment tools, working circuits, analgesic treatments used and their complications, routes of administration and to achieve results. The consultation of the HUPR Preanesthesia usually attended about 130 patients a week, of which 4% do not understand Spanish. Written information has improved the performance of pain management as well as the knowledge of the functioning of the patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) and possible side effects by patients. It has also improved patient satisfaction, considering that actively participate in their treatment of pain.
