Resumen

MAIXE, J.  y  MIRO, J.. Pediatrician's beliefs and attitudes towards pain. Rev. Soc. Esp. Dolor [online]. 2016, vol.23, n.1, pp.16-22. ISSN 1134-8046.

Objective: Fifteen years ago, the first survey about the training and attitudes of Spanish pediatricians towards pain was published. The aim of this article is to reassess the situation about pain among pediatricians. Specifically, the aim is to study the pediatricians' attitudes towards pain and their perceptions about their therapeutic knowledge. And, to compare the results between both surveys, as much as this was possible. Methods: A total of 71 pediatricians participated in this study, and responded to an on-line questionnaire created for this purpose. Results: Based on the data obtained, it should be noted that progress is evident. It so seems that several myths about pediatric pain have been overcome, that pediatricians show more positive attitudes about their training and their actions, and feel they are in a better position to help their patients; although they also recognize the need for a better and wider training. Conclusions: On the basis of our participants responses, it seems that current training is still insufficient; an inconvenience that surveys in other countries around ours have also pinpointed. Nevertheless, progress is substantial and it should be acknowledged.
