ALVARADO GARCIA, Alejandra María  y  SALAZAR MAYA, Ángela María. Aging concept analysis. Gerokomos [online]. 2014, vol.25, n.2, pp.57-62. ISSN 1134-928X.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S1134-928X2014000200002.

Aging is a phenomenon that has been present throughout life through the same process of conception, birth to life through the life cycle and which culminates during the death. However, although it is a natural phenomenon known to all human beings, it is difficult to accept aging as a reality innate to every. Currently aging is considered a public health problem both nationally and internationally as the change in the population pyramid has turned to this population increased and unfortunately governments are not prepared for the physical, mental, social, health that this implies, which requires deeper knowledge of it from multiple perspectives. The article aims to develop the concept of aging analyzed through the methodology proposed by Walker and Avant strategy through which we examine the characteristics that define a concept and its attributes: irreversible process, unique, individual, universal change that involves all dimensions of the human being, slows body processes, among others. Knowledge of this phenomenon will deepen the understanding of the concept and to propose intervention strategies, and guide practice in aging care.
