Resumen

PACHAR LUCIO, J.V.. Forensic institutional practice in Central America and Panama: An opinion. Cuad. med. forense [online]. 2012, vol.18, n.2, pp.49-53. ISSN 1988-611X.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S1135-76062012000200001.

In this region, where violence is endemic, medical expert activities have evolved with the creation of official institutions of forensic services that have been set attempting to continue institutional models with international standards, which has allowed it to provide answers to the growing demands of the administration of justice. In almost all countries, with serious social, political and economic problems, the institutional development is limited by the insufficient allocation of the budgetary resources needed for its efficient functioning, which restricts the institutional growth, forensic specific vocational training, research and the acquisition and application of modern technologies. Some aspects of the institutional practice of legal and forensic medicine in Central America and Panama are presented: its development, organization, functions and affinities and differences by country.

Palabras clave : Legal and Forensic Medicine; Central America and Panama; Organization and forensic institutional practice; Limitations; Forensic services.
