Aims: To ascertain the bonds that the oncologic clients and their relatives establish when living with cancer. Methodology: a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive research. Eighteen clients in radiotherapy treatment and two relatives participated in the research. The semi-structured interview was used, with the elaboration of genogram and ecomap. Results: In the speech of the subjects, two thematic nuclei emerged: strengthened bonds and bonds broken by the disease and treatment. Conclusions: The results contributed to considerations on nursing care inthe radiothreapytreatment of cancer, and in collaboration with possible changes in the nurse in care oncology close to these clients.
