Introduction: The stability of implant is the main parameter who has a great influence in the implant loading program and the treatment result. It depends on three factors: surgical process, bony density and implant design. The objective of the present study was to compare the initial stability on cancellous and cortico-cancellous bone of two implants, one of them who has microthreads in the neck zone and the other one without them. Material and methods: 31 with microthreads in the neck zone Screw Plant ACE® implants and 31 without them, TSV Zimmer® implants, with the same diameter, length and design were inserted in cow ribs, and then the stability was measured with the Ostell Mentor®. Results: The analytical study with Student's t on both cancellous (p 0.31) and cortico-cancellous bone (p 0.52) shows that no significant difference was found between the initial stability of this two types of implants. Discussion: The results of this study make evident that no significant difference exists in the Ostell Mentor® levels between TSV Zimmer® and Screw Plant ACE® implants, therefore, incorporate microthreads at the implant neck, no implies greater primary stability. In spite of this results, it requires long time studies to determinate if the presence of microthreads could influence in the secondary stability. ISQ.
