Resumen

PACHECO LOPEZ, P; TITOS-ARCOS, JC; RICOTE SANCHEZ, G  y  LEON VILLAR, J. Acute esophageal necrosis secondary to chemotherapy for colon cáncer. Rev. OFIL·ILAPHAR [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.3, pp.257-259.  Epub 05-Abr-2021. ISSN 1699-714X.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/s1699-714x2020000300019.

Acute esophageal necrosis is a rare clinical disorder of unknown etiology, low incidence and poor prognosis. We present a case of black esophagus in patient with copious vomiting, dysphagia and mucositis, who was being treated with palliative chemotherapy for metastatic sigmoid adenocarcinoma. The diagnosis was determined by gastroscopy as a result of hematemesis of coagulated blood and melenic stools during the patient's hospital admission. Necrotizing esophagitis has been classically related to some opportunistic infectious agents and to the prolonged use of certain drugs, but until now there is no abundant bibliography that attributes this syndrome to chemotherapy. The objective of this work is to analyze the evolution of the patient in order to determine if the black esophagus was caused for the intravenous antineoplastic treatment.

Palabras clave : Esophagitis; necrosis; chemotherapy; cancer; colon.
