Resumen

SALES-BARROS, O.; BORBA-PINHEIRO, C.J.  y  MARTIN DANTAS, E.H.. Effect of a concurrent training program on health-variables of a woman with multiples herniated discs: clinical case. Rev Andal Med Deporte [online]. 2016, vol.9, n.2, pp.95-98. ISSN 2172-5063.  https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.ramd.2016.02.006.

The aim of this study was to verify the effect of a concurrent training program on the health of a woman of 42 years old with multiple lumbar herniated discs. The training consisted of functional, resisted and flexibility exercises over a period of 16 weeks. Body composition, strength, quality of life, flexibility and pain perception were analyzed. Improvements were detected in the percentage of fat, lean mass, fat mass, flexibility and leg strength. Pain perception score was zero after the 9th week in the cervical region and right hip. The same happened in the lower back, except that there was a slight increase in pain perception in the penultimate week, which was totally reduced at the end of the study. Physical and mental health, as well as total quality of life were improved. We conclude that the concurrent training improved health variables in the case study.
