GAMEZ DE LA HOZ, Joaquín y PADILLA FORTES, Ana. Occupational risks identification at primary care through the workers communication. Rev Asoc Esp Espec Med Trab [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.1, pp.22-30. Epub 12-Feb-2024. ISSN 3020-1160.
Objectives:
Our objective in this study was to know the distribution of occupational risk factors disclosed in workers from a health district of primary care as well as describe the association between perceived symptoms and exposure factors.
Subjects and methods:
Cross-sectional study on the prevalence of factors of occupational hazard and its association with symptoms perceived in the workplace. The population was made up of 280 participants belonging to 30 health centers in the province of Málaga (Spain) during the period 2006-2014.
Results:
Ergonomic factors (52.5%) and safety (48.9%) showed greater perceived risk than the hygienic (9.3%) and psychosocial factors (4.3%). We found evidence of association between perceived musculoskeletal symptoms and ergonomic factors notified (OR 28.5, 99%CI 4.29-189.6), between psychosomatic symptoms and factors psychosocial (OR 25.1, 99%CI 3.62-173.1) and so respiratory symptoms with hygiene factors (OR 15.2, 99%CI 1.96-118.1).
Discussion:
The study of risk factors notified is a valuable tool to include the employee’s point of view in the preventive management.
