Spinal cord injury context takes family to reorganize and re-dimension its life style, for improve their comprehension about the individual and for learn how to live with his injury's complications. We aimed to know the feelings surrounding the relationship of the care of the family of a spinal cord injured person, supported by Watson's theory. It is a qualitative study achieved from September to October 2007, using a semi-structured interview with 7 family caregivers of Spinal cord injury patients at a reference institution on trauma assistance in city of Fortaleza-Ceará-Brazil. The speeches were submitted to Content Analysis, and interpreted by Jean Watson's Transpersonal Theory of Care. The research evidenced, among them, sadness, faith, hope, anxiety and fear. We concluded that it is also necessary to focus the Nursing care on the family of the spinal cord injured patients.
