ALBERICIO GIL, Celia. Experiences of a Parkinson's disease: managing her coping. Index Enferm [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.1-2, pp.82-85. ISSN 1699-5988.
Parkinson is a disease that can cause, besides physical and psychological deterioration, a big social and personal stigma. The way every patient faces and lives this illness is different; however there are common behaviors that lead to a positive adaptation. We are talking about an 81-year-old woman that was diagnosed Parkinson eleven years ago. This story tells us how her disease evolved, her currently state, her feelings, opinions and thoughts about this illness and her own life. She usually seems to have a positive attitude, but sometimes, she cannot avoid losing hope. The interviewee's character can be discovered when she resigns herself and says that there's no cure for her disease, that she knows how difficult (or even impossible) getting better is. In spite of being very conscious about this, she never lost her desire of living.
