Pressure ulcers in Spain remain a major public health issue with important socio-economic ramifications for society. Apart from ethical and legal considerations are preventable injuries by at least 95%, why, must be a priority for healthcare institutions and professionals. Sizing the problem is required for planning preventive strategies task. Other aims of the study is to identify the indicators of Synthetic Index Prevention and prevalence of pressure ulcers of the General Hospital of Elche (2014) and its trend, anterior and posterior, specific training of nurses in prevention. Descriptive observational study. Randomly within a day of each month the nurses on the medical-surgical units recorded by direct observation the various data that determine several epidemiological indicators. Subsequently, are contrasted by the Unit of Chronic Wounds. The risk of pressure ulcers (EVRUPP) with the Braden scale in the first 24 hours of admission was used for obtaining Synthetic Indicator. The sample consisted of 3033 patients admitted according to the inclusion criteria. The present results show a rate of 98.97% prevention and an overall prevalence of 5.24% and 2.97% produced during admission. The results are in line with the 3rd National Prevalence Study 2009. The awareness and training in prevention of pressure ulcers nurses reduces the prevalence of these.
