Objective:
Identify the predictors of problematic consumption of psychoactive substances in a group o older adults.
Methodology:
Qualitative approach, interpretive hermeneutic design.
Results:
It is identified that the predictive factors that affect establishing the problematic consumption of psychoactive substances as a learned habit, in the older adults participating in the present study are: age and place of initiation, consumption seen and experienced as a sociocultural phenomenon, reinforced in the family, generally known as addictogenic dysfunctional families, pro-psychoactive-dependent substances, in addition to precarious living conditions, including: unemployment, low income, family and social abuse, unstable family relationships, exposure to physical and/or sexual abuse, and the presence of male figures identified as role models who with consume alcohol, both in the family and at work.
