Because of the increased incidence of worldwide there are new vaccination strategies to alleviate the situation, despite high vaccination coverage in developed countries, are still observed an increase in the number of cases cough. One of these strategies is vaccination of pregnant women, is the strategy more countries are having. This fact led to the study to prove the real risk that women of childbearing age in Spain have for suffering pertussis. After analysis of epidemiological data found and reviewed studies, women of childbearing age are not a priority risk group for the disease, children under one year are the first group, but we have seen that vaccinating pregnant women transfers antibodys that provides protection to the newborn until they start their first vaccination. It has also been seen that vaccination reduces severe presentations of the disease and hospitalization time but a loss of immunity doesn't protect against disease so it would have to consider new research projects vaccine to produced greater immunity and better diagnostic measures to diagnosticate not only children, adults too.
