Resumen

Introduction: Population is demanding to be informed by patients and families have increased in recent decades and nursing requires adapting management of their care based on this social demand. Aims: Explain the responsibility attached to nursing practice in relation to the provision of information on the patient and his family. Identify some limitations that hinder communication. Meet the perceived situation in the area Oncopediatrics. Methodology: Literature review on the status of the topic and contribution of a qualitative study in Oncopediatrics with interviews in parents of children with cancer and health team workers in Navarra's Hospital. Results and conclusions: There is consensus in the literature reviewed in assuming responsibility for nursing in communication with the patient and the family as a more competitive within their managed care. In Oncopediatrics communication of cancer in a child is a situation much impact for parents. All healthcare team is involved and will face the situation always valuing one's willingness to inform parents or the child about his illness.
