Resumen

GIRELA-LOPEZ, Eloy. Ethics in medical education. FEM (Ed. impresa) [online]. 2013, vol.16, n.4, pp.191-195. ISSN 2014-9840.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S2014-98322013000600002.

Teachers take on a high responsibility in the contribution to the comprehensive education of future doctors. Because of this reason, they need to meet ethical requirements to the greatest possible extent (integrity, competence, knowledge, experience, respect, sincerity, justice, humility, prudence and exemplarity), as well as other technical qualities. All these requisites are essential to achieve the main objective of getting virtuous doctors who cope with excellence and professionalism in the benefit of their patients. Education of other doctors is an obligation for every physician, not just for those who are teachers. In addition to the ethical obligation of continuing medical education throughout his professional life, doctors have a moral duty to contribute to the training of young colleagues with less experience and medical students. This paper presents a personal point of view of the ethical requirements for teaching in medicine and certain particularities of the ethical aspects of the evaluation process.
