Resumen

RIVAS GUERRERO, Fabio. The psychosis in the community and the sociosanitary space: New challenges and new protagonists for the old psychiatric reform. Rev. Asoc. Esp. Neuropsiq. [online]. 2003, n.85, pp.59-73. ISSN 2340-2733.

In relation to the processes of the psychiatric reform iniciated in different parts of the world, we can say, generally spoken, that the main subject of these processes has been the psychiatrist, the object of the reform was the Mental Hospital, and more exactly the debate about the assistance in these hospitals and its subsequent transformation in a system of community assistance. Nevertheless, at the begining of the new century, we are attending to a new stage of the processes of the psychiatric reform with changes in the protagonists (the subject of the change) -now they are the users and their families- as well as in the object (now it is centred in the social network instead of the mental hospital). So far we are able to glimpse, the goal of this new subject of the processes of the psychiatric reform is the implantation and development in their communities of an efficient sociosanitary space which guarantees the best quality of life for the patient and his family.

Palabras clave : psychiatric reform; sociosanitary space; psychosis; schizophrenia; community psychiatry; assistance request.
