Resumen
HERNANDEZ-DIAZ, Alejandro A et al. Opinion of nursing students on the therapeutic use of cannabis. Universidad Mayor Temuco. FEM (Ed. impresa) [online]. 2022, vol.25, n.4, pp.177-182. Epub 28-Sep-2022. ISSN 2014-9840. https://dx.doi.org/10.33588/fem.254.1215.
Introduction.
Cannabinoids are seen as interesting therapeutic agents for health and Nursing due to their analgesic, antiemetic and muscle relaxant effects.
Objective.
To reveal the opinion held by nursing students at the University Mayor Temuco about the therapeutic use of Cannabis.
Subjects and methods.
It is a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory study; the sample consisted of 20 subjects, for the collection of data the focal group technique was used, the analysis through data reduction. Rigor criteria were used for validity, and researchers also triangulated. The ethical aspect was safeguarded by the Scientific Ethics Committee of the Institution.
Results.
156 units of meaning were identified, which generated four descriptive categories: therapeutic use concept, facilitating factors, hindering factors and interest of students. The most mentioned are highlighted: cannabis use associations for the first, where there was no concept as such; analgesic response for the second, social stigmas and legal environment for the third for the last curriculum and need to know pharmacological formulas.
Conclusion.
Weak concepts of 'therapeutic use' are evidenced, they did not define or relate in pharmacological or clinical terms the concept; facilitating factors: potent analgesic actions, positive physiological effects on various body systems, and palliative care emerges as a disciplinary action; obstacles: barriers and social stigmas, lack of information, little openness of the legal framework; interest: incorporate them in curriculum, recognize pharmacological formulas and management of care.
