GARCIA-BUITRAGO, X.A.  e  GALVEZ-CHAVEZ, J.C.. Surgical anatomy in medial submental platismaplasty: anatomical variations in fresh cadavers. Cir. plást. iberolatinoam. [online]. 2015, vol.41, n.2, pp.135-146. ISSN 1989-2055.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S0376-78922015000200003.

A cross section descriptive, exploratory research on 30 dissections of cadavers was performed with the objective of identifying anatomic variations of the neck superficial anterior region as related to the submental medial platysmaplasty. The main studied variables were: the platysma muscle, the anterior jugular veins, the submandibular glands, as well as the facial veins on their superficial segments at glandular level and the facial arteries at their crossing point by the mandibular ridge. The Pearson (r) correlation test was applied in correspondence to these variables. The most important results were: the anatomical variability of the platysma muscle with predominance of the separated edge variable at hyoid level; inconstant appearance of the anterior jugular veins prevailing their asymmetric bilateral shape. Constance and symmetry was observed from the hyoid midline to the anterior edges of the submandibular glands and to the facial veins at the most superficial segment of their run through these glands, as well as equidistance of the facial arteries at their cross point at mandibular level in relation to the chin symphysis. No relation to the rest of the studied variables between the neck length and diameter was confirmed.
