RIVERO MARTIN, M.J. et al. Influenza vaccination in children with type I mellitus diabetes in a suburban area in Madrid. Rev Pediatr Aten Primaria [online]. 2011, vol.13, n.51, pp.381-385. ISSN 1139-7632. https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S1139-76322011000300004.
Objective: To determine the rate of flu vaccination in the group of patients followed in our hospital because of type 1 diabetes. Methods: A descriptive study is conducted in patients with type 1 diabetes, analyzing the rate of vaccination against influenza. Results: 37 patients were included (male/female: 1.6/1). The mean age was 9.7 years and the mean duration of disease 3 years. 51.3% patients have been vaccinated against influenza in 2010 versus 64.86% in 2009. Children with a disease evolution between 3 and 6 years are the least vaccinated (22% vaccinated), compared to the rest (56%). Conclusions: Vaccination coverage against influenza virus is low in our area, although higher than the referred in Spanish population (36.7%). Recommendation on influenza vaccination is required in diabetic patients.
