TEJERO-VIDAL, Lorena Lourdes; TORRES-PENELLA, Carmen; TEJERO-COSTA, Francisco José  e  CUCHI-CONSUL, Ana. Tangible and intangible heritage of the care after the War of Succession in the old Hospital of Santa Maria of Lleida. Temperamentvm [online]. 2021, vol.17, e13339.  Epub 27-Jan-2023. ISSN 1699-6011.

Objective:

describe tangible and intangible assets in the hospital of Santa Maria of Lleida after the War of Succession.

Methods:

qualitative historical study, using the observation of primary sources from city archives, analyzing the authenticity of the sources, refining the information and contextualizing it to the post-war period.

Results:

the establishment had been established in a social, economic and health context as a result of the plague epidemic in the mid-15th century. It had an image of an underused center with scarce resources, which changed with the impact of the War of Succession. The civil hospital workers also treated sick soldiers, obtaining financial compensation. There are two inventories of the period (1722-1735) that describe the stables and the number of beds with which it consisted. The people they cared for were 17, including married couples.

Conclusions:

the care in post-war periods has been carried out in environments with scarce human and material resources, as also happened in the Santa Maria hospital. The account registers identify the economic resources and the figures in charge of the care throughout those first fifty years of the eighteenth century.
