Introduction

The mission of the medical education has two main objectives: to solve problems of health of the individual and society, and to apply scientific information so that this practice is ethical, scientific, technical and humanistic. To analyze the acceptance of these objectives and their fulfillment in the curriculum was made a survey to students of Medicine of a university in the southeast of Mexico.

Subjects and methods

The study was true, customer-focused and consumer-based evaluation. The survey was of Likert-type of five items and open-ended questions. Sample not probabilistic was 147 students of Medicine of semesters fourth and eighth. Statisticians of central tendency and comparison of means were made.

Results

The fourth semester students perceived better fulfillment of the objectives of the mission than the eighth semester. In the fourth semester there was greater Association by subjects in the clinical area and the first objective. The eighth also increased the value of t for the subjects of the basic area. For the second objective of the fourth semester students perceived better to the subjects of clinical and basic to the eighth, but not better than for the first goal area. In open questions the students expressed dissatisfaction with the program because greater emphasis in the clinical area and in the management and implementation of the information is necessary to solve health problems.

Conclusion

The students are in accordance with the objectives of the mission but are not satisfied with the implementation of the curriculum.
