Material and methods:
cross-sectional, descriptive, exploratory study carried out in family medicine residents belonging to academic programs of Colombian universities, who filled out the research instrument by means of a snowball survey that included sociodemographic data and the application of the MBI-HSS.
Results:
the prevalence of burnout is 6.8 % among the participants, being more frequent in male residents with a weekly dedication of more than 66 hours, belonging to the first semester.
Conclusions:
it is necessary to identify burnout syndrome periodically in resident physicians in order to adopt structured preventive measures within a risk management system to reduce the complications derived from the presence of this condition.
