LAFUENTE ACUNA, N. I.; ARGIBAY COCHON, J. C. e CASTRO OTERO, A.. Retropharyngeal abscess after ingesting of foreing body. Medifam [online]. 2002, vol.12, n.5, pp.70-73. ISSN 1131-5768.
Retropharyngeal abscess is an uncommon patology, secondary to upper respiratory tract infections in children or trauma by foreign body in adults. The lateral neck x-ray and the computed tomography together with the clinical presentation permit diagnosis. Precious antibiotic treatment and surgical drainage avoid potentially fatal complications. We present a case of a patient who develop an abscess rethropharyngeal after the ingesting of foreign body (chicken bone), were necessary antibiotic treatment and surgical drainage. Clinical and radiologic findings, complications and treatment are reviewed.
