Jusitification: This article comes from academic activity from Nursing School Doctorate Program of the Federal University of Bahia - Brazil. It discusses the importance of phenomenological interview in nursing researches in Brazil. It aims to identify how this technique has been donein published studies in brazilian periodicals classified as Qualis-A2; and to present its peculiarities. Method: Quantitative/qualitative. Between 2005 and 2010, 2.123 of those productions were surveyed. Results: Of the 2.123 surveyed productions, 26 contained social phenomenology approaches and existential, Merleau-Ponty´s, Heideggerian´s hermeneutics. From 26, only 1 made allusion to the use and the phenomenological interview peculiarities and the others presented the semi-structured interview as collection technique. Conclusion: Rescuing the phenomenological interview use in phenomenological studies is indispensable to the comprehension of the phenomenon, revealing senses and meanings of quotidian life apprehended in qualitative research applied to the health area.
