The arise of rotary instrumentation techniques in the root canal treatment has allowed us to make several reflections in relation to both the advantages and disadvantages described in this clinical paper.  The HERO 642 rotary file system is described and compared with other brands, detailing the technique proposed by the designers, Vulcain JM and Calas P, and the protocol recommended by the authors of this article.  Finally, we suggest some basic rules for the correct use of the engine-driven rotary instruments as a routine technique for root canal treatment, compared to other techniques.
