Trapeziometacarpal rhizarthrosis can affect the work of dentists and it is important its knowledge for prevention and treatment.
Material and Methods:
The following electronic databases have been searched: Pubmed Medline and the Cochrane Library Plus. Articles published in Spanish and English about prevention and treatment of thumb rhizarthrosis.
Results and discussion:
A series of measures are proposed to stop rhizarthrosis and improve quality of life. There is a conservative treatment and a surgical treatment.
Conclusions:
The repetitive movements and in many cases using force that dentists perform can lead to rhizarthrosis, especially in women.
