FERREIRA, Juliana Martins et al. Gerontotechnology for fall prevention: promotion of health of the elderly with Parkinson's disease. Index Enferm [online]. 2019, vol.28, n.1-2, pp.61-65.  Epub 09-Dez-2019. ISSN 1699-5988.

Objective:

Evaluate the contribution of gerontotechnologies in nursing care to promote the health of the elderly with Parkinson's disease to prevent falls.

Methods:

The Convergent Care Survey was used through the construction and application of educational material developed by clinical evaluation, semi-structured recorded interview and workshops. The evaluation of the elaborated materials was carried out by ten judges, selected by the list of graduates in gerontology of the Brazilian Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, who used the Gerontotechnology Assessment and Suitability Assessment of Materials.

Results:

The research pointed out that it takes, at least, six years of study for the elderly to understand the gerontotechnology used. The objectives related to content, text comprehension, motivation and cultural adaptation were achieved.

Conclusions:

Gerontotechnologies are effective in preventing falls, since they provide knowledge about Parkinson's disease, environmental prevention and safety actions, and contribute to the process of reflection through health promotion, making the elderly protagonist of their care process.
