PERDOMO PEREZ, Estrella; PEREZ RODRIGUEZ, María Francisca; BENITEZ GIL, María Daisy  e  RUIZ PERDOMO, Cristina. The detritus in the healing process and its elimination for a correct preparation of the wound bed. Gerokomos [online]. 2018, vol.29, n.3, pp.141-144. ISSN 1134-928X.

Scarring is an endogenous process that occurs to repair lost epidermal and dermal tissue where numerous types of cells interact. One of the initial objectives of some of these cells is to try to eliminate from the wound the debris load that can impede the progress of the healing stages and that can also become the appropriate substrate that favors the development of complex phenomena associated with the bacterial load: local infection, presence of biofilm, etc. With this article we want to address the importance of continuous withdrawal through a proper cleaning of face debris in wounds, a technique that should not be confused with the elimination of unviable tissue (necrosis, sloughs...) that may also be present in the ulceral bed and that will be done with the different debridement techniques to complete the wound bed preparation. Both procedures can not be excluded, but on the contrary they must be added in the approach of chronic-complex lesions.

Palavras-chave : Wound healing-detritus; cleaning and debridement in the wound bed preparation.
