Introduction: baby friendly initiative for Hospital and Health Primary Care (IHAN) aims to improve the quality of care provided by different health centres either hospitals or centres of primary care with the aim of improving the quality of the interaction of mother and newborn also improving rates of breastfeeding (BF) and the general well-being of families. Most of these measures require for its implementation favourable attitudes from professionals already which do not always require complex tools or means so its launch in hospitals and health is more a matter of motivation that expensive media. Materials and methods: we performed a survey of health professionals related to child to learn their attitudes about BF. This survey was distributed by Internet in the area of distribution lists of the Spanish Association of Pediatrics Primary Care (AEPap). Results: 431 surveys were collected of which 70% are pediatricians, 11% Midwives and 8% Family Physicians and nurses and 4% other professionals; 63% know the Baby friendly health care centers. initiative; 45% Have a written document about BF; 58.7% know of a support group for BF; 32% Perform the first sight of the newborn in the first week of life; 62.5% Advised to introduce complementary foods at six months; 82.5% recommended the use of non-pharmacological pain management; 37% know and use the growth charts from the WHO. The use of these charts correlated with advice on complementary feeding after six months. Discussion: there were no correlations between complementary feeding advice earlier with having received industry support.
