The first part of this article presents the most important steps of the Italian law's evolution about medically assisted reproduction (MAR) in the last decade. It also describes the principal prohibitions actually in force and it offers a point of view about its application, comparing the Italian situation with the Spanish one, after the most recent judgments about surrogacy arrangements.
