RUIZ-VELAZCO-SANDOVAL, Norma Guadalupe. The phenomenological method on illness research. A first-person experience. Index Enferm [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.3, e14503. Epub 04-Mar-2024. ISSN 1699-5988. https://dx.doi.org/10.58807/indexenferm20236153.
The illness is a phenomenon that can be addressed from different approaches. One of the most remarkable is phenomenology, which aims to approach this based on the knowledge of people's experiences. However, Husserl, the precursor of this philosophical posture, does not propose a specific method to understand how phenomena appear to consciousness. For his part, Schütz, a disciple of Weber and Husserl, proposed a methodology for the construction of scientific thinking, also known as second-degree thinking, starting from the deepening of the popular common sense experienced: “The world of life” The aim of this article is to reflect on the successes, failures, and learning that emerged from the approach, from Husserl's phenomenology and the methodology proposed by Schütz, to a community suffering from kidney disease. To do this, I have used as an example, some of my personal experiences that emerged during the development of my doctoral thesis.
