Introduction: The process of development and consolidation of nursing as a science is clearly perceptible in the exponential increase of the generation and consumption of its scientific production, despite their marginalization by the hegemonic science. The Iberoamerican Scientific Space (ECI) is essential in this process, so it is necessary to know the behavior of the nurse production and its consumption in this territorial context. Methodology: Descriptive study, through the bibliometric analysis of nurse production edited in the ECI during the year 2010. As journals source, 38 nursing journals were selected based on inclusion criteria established in previous studies. Results: Two journals were excluded due to breach on the timeliness of publication. 2111 articles from 36 journals source were included and analysed 38963 bibliographic references, 9617 these references were to nursing journals. The source journals accumulated 6117 appointments and were observed some significant fluctuations in its impact. Discussion and conclusions: This corroborates the trend to an increase in production and consumption with greater immediacy of nursing scientific publications in ECI, an important sign in its consolidation as a science and requires the commitment of nursing professionals.
