This article consist in a evaluation of the global turnaround time (TT) in an emergency laboratory, in which the analytical results are sent from the laboratory to the Emergency Department by remote printing, and it is compared with turnaround times obtained in the same laboratory when results were sent with hospital porters. 225 petitions were studied, clasified in three work shifts (morning, afternoon and nightshift) in which we studied: time passed since the analysis is requested until it is received by the laboratory and intralaboratory time. It is considered that it is important to realize periodic studies of turnaround times and to propose measures to improvement, as well as to reappraise the results of these measurements.
