We are nurses with several years of experience working in psychiatry. During all these years, starting from the common biological model in which we were trained, we have been in search of a model of work that corresponds to our values and beliefs and, above all, that is truly useful for the people with whom we work. The present article describes our journey in search of this model starting with the Foucauldian Panopticon, social constructionism, narratives and other influences such as brief therapy and appreciative inquiry, defining our own postpsychiatric position. Our postmodern views also pose challenges to our daily work. We know that it is not a complete theoretical model and we do not aim it to be such a model. We inform about our own way and share it for whoever might find it useful.
