This text reflects on the moral impact of the pandemic on healthcare professionals and its consequences. It argues that the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has caused significant moral injury, affecting different sectors of the healthcare system unevenly. Moral injury stems from our social nature and sensitivity to relational experiences, extending to the evolving relationship between healthcare professions and society. The moral impact has led to dangers such as professional burnout, attrition, and retaliation. Consequently, urgent processes of repair and reconciliation among key stakeholders are crucial to address these challenges.
