Given the loss of Luis Martínez-Feduchi, a Spanish adolescent mental health specialist, a review of his contributions to the adolescent clinical practice is carried out, particularly for the current pan-Hispanic cultural and social situation. We highlight his special attention to the freedom and autonomy of adolescents in all kinds of clinical settings, including the one that has to do with juvenile justice devices. In this sense, we remember their conceptions regarding the differences between tolerance and compromise in relation to their transgressions and/or disruptive behaviors and the need not to medicalize or marginalize the particular grief, conflicts, modes of expression and tasks of that vital stage. His contributions in those fields and devices are summarized, ending with a brief memory of the person.
