Abstract

Introduction:
In Ceuta, 82.3% of the population has received at least one vaccine against COVID-19. 17.7% reject to receive any vaccine related to this disease. The objective of this study is to determine the degree of rejection and its causes towards vaccination against COVID-19 in health workers of the Hospital Universitario de Ceuta; In addition, to be able to compare these results with the causes in different countries and with other healthcare providers in the world.
Method:
A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out where the database of workers was reviewed, excluding those who had received at least one dose of the vaccine. In those where there was no information or had not received vaccination, a telephone call was made. A database was designed with different variables, including: professional category, sex and age. Data analysis was carried out with Excel 2010.
Results:
Of the 1,009 registered workers, 17 of them confirmed that they had not received any vaccine: 6 nurses (35%), 6 doctors (35%), 3 administrative staff (18%), 1 porter (6%), and 1 nursing assistant (6 %). 35% attributed it to medical causes, 35% were reluctant to receive the vaccine and 18% reported having antibodies against the virus and therefore did not want to receive the vaccination.
Conclusions:
The most frequent cause of non-vaccination is fear (35%) of both side effects and the speed of vaccine development.
