Hyperparathyroidism frequently has bone effects. In one subset of patients, these effects involve mainly facial bones (hyperparathyroidism-jaw tumour syndrome). The authors describe an affected family from central Portugal and discuss the features of this still poorly known disease, which can present initially as a facial tumour.
