Resumen
JESUS MARTIN, María et al. HIV/AIDS prevention in men who have sex with men (MSM): Examples of preventive interventions at individual, small-group, and community-level. Clínica y Salud [online]. 2008, vol.19, n.2, pp.205-229. ISSN 2174-0550.
This theoretical review describes and classifies different preventive interventions aimed at reducing the spread of the infection caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in men who have sex with men (MSM). These preventive interventions, focused on achieving a sexual behavior change, have been classified as individual, group and community-based interventions according to their implementation level. We will describe whom they are aimed at and their specific actions and results. This will allow us to determine the benefits and objections of their use in terms of individual, social and environmental variables. We conclude that HIV/AIDS preventive interventions focused on MSM, should consider the need of complementing individual and group interventions with community-based interventions.
